• Eksterior - the design of a new generation

Striking lines, dynamically curved surfaces and a window line that calls to mind a coupé all go to make up the sporty and emotional exterior of the A-Class. The significantly modified dimensions, with greater width and distinctly reduced height, contribute to its athletic appearance.

The pronounced arrow-shaped front section and expressive radiator grille give the A-Class both an air of self-confidence and a decidedly energetic look. The flanks, with two striking structural lines, and the powerfully muscular rear wings give a feeling of forwards thrust even when the car is at a standstill.

The coupé-like side line with its curved roof, beltline rising towards the rear and long, narrow, glazed area emphasises the sporty appearance of the A-Class. The B-pillar is covered by the "frame under glass" design of the door.
The distinctly wide rear end with horizontal structuring exudes power and athleticism. This is thanks to the bicolour tail lamps, which extend well into the sides of the vehicle. At night an innovative lighting design gives the A-Class an exciting aura.

• Interior - Refreshingly Sporty

A love of detail comes through in the high-quality interior with its sporty ambience. The shapes, surfaces and materials go together to form a high-quality and harmonious whole and meet the highest standards, both to the eye and the touch.

The cockpit combines a sporty ambience with ergonomic styling and layout. The result: pure driving pleasure, with the comfort so typical of Mercedes-Benz. Various design and equipment lines as well as design packages (Exclusive package and AMG Exclusive package) allow you to individualise your interior to lend it a stylish, urban, sporty or exclusive note.
Three seating variants ensure ergonomic comfort. A large selection of attractive cover fabrics and colours provide many versatile possibilities for individualisation. Exclusive appointments such as the upper section of instrument panel upholstered in ARTICO man-made leather as part of the Exclusive package (optional) or the ambient lighting which comes in conjunction with the Light and Sight package (optional), characterise the sporty interior of the A-Class.
Depending on the design and equipment line or design package, high-quality trim is applied to the vent openings, the armrests in the doors and to many controls. The generous use of decorative topstitching, either in appointments or contrasting colour, for the seats, steering wheel, armrests and doors, lends a touch of exclusivity.

• Interior Comfort - Comfortable Sporty, as standard

Oh what a feeling

First-class travel every time – that is what the A-Class so convincingly delivers to its drivers. The optionally available design and equipment lines, design packages, and a whole range of further fittings and appointments for interior comfort previously reserved for the more exclusive vehicle segments are most certainly premium class, too.

The 4-way lumbar support improves seating comfort and ergonomics. The backrest curvature can be individually adjusted to meet the needs of the driver and front passenger, promoting an ergonomic seating position. Two air cushions are integrated in the backrest of each front seat. Two control valves allow them to be inflated and deflated as required, facilitating individually adjusted support for the lumbar spine. The height of the air cushions is also adjustable. Lumbar support adjustment is carried out by means of a 4-way switch on the outside of the seat cushion.

The driver's seat and backrest can be adjusted electrically via controls in the door panel. The settings can be saved in 3 programmes and called up again at any time. Additionally the head restraint can be adjusted for height, giving the best possible fit (not available in conjunction with sports seats).

The air conditioning system has a heating and ventilation system and a refrigeration system. A rotary switch can be used to set the desired temperature for the interior. Depending on the pre-selected temperature and the desired air distribution the air is heated, or cooled if the air conditioning is switched on.

Activating the recirculation function means that no external air is drawn into the vehicle interior. To prevent the windows from steaming up, air recirculation is automatically deactivated in line with temperature and settings. Depending on vehicle equipment, holding down the air recirculation button closes the side windows and sunroof. Fresh air runs through the dust filter which improves the air quality.

The multifunction steering wheel gives you comprehensive access to a variety of telematics and vehicle settings. All the relevant information is shown in the instrument cluster display. The multifunction steering wheel has twelve function buttons and a high-resolution 11.4-cm display in the instrument cluster.

The 3-spoke multifunction steering wheel with twelve function buttons and display in the instrument cluster is operated via two keypads on the steering wheel. The left-hand keypad is used to operate the menus, while the right-hand keypad controls the audio and telephone telematics functions. The "Settings" menu allows the driver to adjust various parameters, such as light and instrument cluster settings. Optional extras which are not fitted in the vehicle are skipped.
The right-hand buttons on the multifunction steering wheel in the instrument cluster can be used to select other settings. For example, the buttons "pick up phone" or "hang up phone" can be used to accept or end a phone call. And the volume for the radio and voice instructions can be set using the +/- volume controls.

The multifunction steering wheel, which is covered in nappa leather, gives you comprehensive access to a variety of telematics and vehicle functions/settings. All the information relevant to the vehicle/journey is shown on the instrument cluster display. The multifunction steering wheel has 12 function buttons and an 11.4-cm display in the instrument cluster.

The electric seat heating allows for multi-level individual heating of the front seats. The pushbutton control for each seat can be set to normal or rapid heating. In the rapid heating setting, the system automatically changes to normal mode after approx. 5 minutes. The seat heating is automatically switched off completely after around 30 minutes, or it can be also be switched off manually at any time.Seat heating is also switched off automatically if the battery charge is too low.

The Seat Comfort package improves seat comfort on journeys, both long and short, by providing the seats with more options for ergonomic individualisation and for adjustment to the desired seat position. The package includes height adjustment for the front passenger seat and seat cushion angle adjustment for both front seats.

• Mercedes Benz A-Class - Multimedia system and Navigation

The Audio 5 USB audio system provides entertainment. It comprises a radio with calibrated loudspeakers as well as a USB port in the centre console to enable the integration of portable devices. It can be operated via the buttons on the radio or the multifunction steering wheel.

The optimised Media Interface, including the consumer cable kit, provides a solution for connecting portable media players in the centre console which cannot be connected via the standard USB mass storage device. This includes the iPod® and iPhone® as well as media players with Media Transfer Protocol (MTP), for example, from Creative, Philips, Sandisk, Samsung or Sony. The system makes it easy to read additional information such as track title, album, artist etc. (where available) on the vehicle's main display.

Once the portable media player has been connected, the following functions are available:

• All audio tracks can be played (DRM-protected tracks only off the iPod®)
• iPod® and iPhone® videos can be played (only in conjunction with COMAND Online).
• Album selection using Cover Art (only in conjunction with COMAND Online)
• The cover belonging to the track currently being played is displayed, if available
• Artist, title and album name for the track currently playing are displayed (if available as an ID3 tag in the audio file) plus playback status of track

The Bluetooth® telephone module with SAP profile is an enhancement to comfort telephony. It enables a mobile phone to be connected through the Bluetooth® SAP profile (SIM access profile) or for it to be directly operated by inserting the SIM card in the built-in SIM card reader.
